A Woven Threshold

A place of pause within a landscape of movement
The project transforms the historic rest stop into a modern roadside landmark, using local blockwork as both structure and ornament. Inspired by traditional weaving, the masonry is laid in varied patterns to create shade, porosity and symbolic identity. Above ground, it acts as a visible marker; below ground, the architecture retreats from the heat, forming protected, quiet spaces for rest, reflection and transition.
