The project reimagines the ancient Aflaj as more than an irrigation system, transforming it into a path that links the village to the dam. Following the flow of water, a series of spaces for gathering, farming, learning, rest, and exploration unfolds along the valley Wadi Muaydin in the Omani mountains. The architecture blends local vernacular traditions with the evolving needs of Omani society. Traditionally separate elements – such as tourist hotels and local housing, irrigation systems, hiking trails, public plazas, and markets – are integrated into a single cohesive structure. The design reflects the rugged, raw slopes of the surrounding valley by layering simple, climate-dictated forms to create a faceted geometry, yet remains peacefully harmonious within the landscape.
