On the coast of Himarë, a derelict military bunker is transformed into an austere retreat, reimagining an architecture of fear as one of contemplation, hospitality and collective refuge.

Embracing the bunker’s darkness, weight and raw materiality, luxury is reduced to its essentials: shelter, water, nourishment and silence. The hotel unfolds as a linear journey through the hill, from spaces for movement and meditation at sunrise, to protected sleeping chambers and bathing, culminating in a restaurant and sunset belvedere overlooking the sea.

Moving through the bunker becomes a transition from darkness to light, enclosure to exposure. Retaining its original protective intelligence, the retreat can rapidly adapt into a resilient community shelter in times of crisis, existing as both a place of peaceful withdrawal and collective safety.
